Retailers can sell existing stock of football shirts carrying betting logos despite the recent operational ban.

Brazilian authorities have provided a minor update regarding football merchandise featuring betting sponsors. Stores and suppliers may now sell shirts that were already manufactured before the recent rules took effect. This clarification comes after a formal request from a sports trade association seeking guidance on current inventory.
Strict limits remain in place
The permission to sell old stock does not mean betting sponsors are back on the pitch. Creating new shirts with gambling logos remains entirely forbidden. Promotional campaigns, stadium banners, and influencer marketing are also still banned under the current regulations.
Clubs face significant financial pressure because gambling firms provided massive funding recently. Serie A teams earned substantial sponsorship revenue from betting brands before the government halted operations. Officials warn that total losses could reach massive sums across multiple revenue streams over the coming years.
Legal battles and future uncertainty
Betting companies have taken their fight against the ban to the highest court in the country. Industry figures argue that the rapid shutdown caused unnecessary commercial chaos. Meanwhile, political changes or upcoming elections could alter the regulatory environment further.
The minor concession helps retailers clear old stock but does not signal any return for full gambling sponsorships on match kits.
