Borussia Dortmund nearly threw away a strong start in their latest cup fixture against Werder Bremen. They established a comfortable two goal advantage before losing control of the pitch. Werder Bremen fought back strongly and erased the deficit completely, putting huge pressure on the favorites.

Late magic secures the win

With time running out and extra time looming, Marcel Sabitzer stepped up to take a crucial free kick. He struck the ball with incredible precision to find the back of the net. That late moment of brilliance restored the lead and ultimately decided the match in favor of Dortmund.

Market reaction for punters

Punters who backed Dortmund to win in regulation time had almost given up hope during the second half collapse. This dramatic finish will definitely influence upcoming match odds for the club. Bookmakers are likely to shorten their price for the next round because the team showed fighting spirit.

Schlotterbeck praised his teammate after the final whistle for producing such a special moment under immense pressure. The defender noted that individual brilliance saved the team when things got difficult. Punters should take note of how vulnerable the defense looked before that winning goal went in.

What it means for a bet

Expect bookmakers to shorten Dortmund odds for their next cup fixture following this dramatic escape.
