Fanatics plans massive betting spend to challenge major brands

Fanatics plans to increase its sports betting marketing budget to one billion dollars next year.

Written by the BettingEdgeHub desk, 3 October 2026

The American online sports wagering market is currently controlled by DraftKings and FanDuel. Fanatics wants to break this duopoly and take the top spot in the industry. Chief executive Michael Rubin revealed that the company could spend one billion dollars on sports betting advertising next year. This amount is more than double the three hundred fifty million dollars planned for this year.

Growing market share and revenue

Fanatics entered the online sports betting industry in 2023 and now operates in nineteen states. The company holds a ten percent share of the United States sports wagering market. Total company sales are expected to reach fourteen billion dollars this year. Two billion dollars of that total will come from the betting and gaming division.

Financial strength without public pressure

The private company has zero debt and generates strong cash flow to fund its expansion. Being privately held gives Fanatics a big advantage over its public rivals. Publicly traded companies must answer to Wall Street every quarter. Fanatics can freely move money from its profitable retail units into sports betting without public scrutiny.

Entering prediction markets

Fanatics has already entered the prediction market industry ahead of its main competitors. The company recently bought a regulated exchange and clearinghouse. Rubin expects future regulatory changes to shape this emerging sector. These prediction platforms create fresh competition for traditional sportsbook operators across the country.

What it means for a bet

Punters can expect bigger promotional campaigns and better offers as Fanatics aggressively pursues market share.
