Rules and licensingSpain introduces mandatory cross operator deposit limits
Spanish regulators have set a new universal spending cap for online gamblers.

Spanish authorities recently announced a universal deposit limit that applies across all licensed betting operators. The standard default caps are set at seven hundred euros for a single day, one thousand seven hundred fifty euros for a week, and three thousand three hundred euros over four weeks. This new measure means that having multiple accounts will no longer allow players to bypass spending restrictions. ## How the system works
The Directorate General for Gambling Regulation will manage the system through a central tool that checks compliance in real time. Individual operators must verify deposits against this government database before accepting funds from any customer. Players can still change their limits, but any request to raise a ceiling takes three working days to take effect. Furthermore, customers can only increase their limits once every three months.
New player portal features
A newly launched official portal allows citizens to monitor their complete gambling history across all platforms. Users can view all active accounts linked to their identity, which helps protect against unauthorized use. The platform also provides downloadable electronic activity certificates and customisable spending alerts. ## Important dates and future rules
Testing of the infrastructure is currently underway and the caps become fully binding on March twenty sixth, two thousand twenty seven. Customers can already access the portal and adjust their limits during this trial period. Anyone wishing to turn off the joint cap must follow a specific procedure that includes extra risk information.
Impact on online betting brands
Multi operator customers make up a significant portion of active online gamblers in Spain. These individuals will feel the effects of the universal cap the most when placing their wagers. Companies that cater heavily to high spending customers might see changes in their overall deposit volumes once the rules become mandatory.
Bettors using multiple sites in Spain will soon share a single universal deposit limit.
