Online gambling operator Coolbet has informed the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund about potential job losses at its Tallinn headquarters. The company started the official collective redundancy consultation process for VG Estonia. The final number of affected workers will be decided after these talks finish.
Restructuring plans and pressures
Coolbet chief operating officer Tomas Graham stated that the business needs to adapt to changing market conditions. The company faced weaker performance in the business to business sector alongside rising tax and regulatory pressures. The restructuring aims to secure long term stability and competitiveness for the brand.
Affected roles and operations
Most of the jobs at risk are in development, information technology, and business to business services. Customer support and other service functions might also face reductions. VG Estonia currently employs more than 300 people at the Tallinn office.
Ownership and broader context
Japanese group Sega Sammy acquired the parent company of Coolbet last year. Company leaders noted that the new operational direction aligns with broader corporate priorities. Meanwhile, another local entity named Staycool remains unaffected by the current announcement.
These corporate changes highlight the financial pressures facing online bookmakers in multiple regulated markets.
