Two senior leaders at Saracen Casino Resort in Pine Bluff are facing termination. The Downstream Development Authority approved a resolution supporting the removal of General Manager Mark Harkness and Chief Marketing Officer Carlton Saffa. Officials claim the two men violated their employment contracts.
Allegations against the executives
The resolution states that Harkness and Saffa created a company named GamePhysics. They allegedly marketed products and services from this business to third parties inside the Arkansas gaming industry. The authority stated this conduct violates non compete clauses and rules against conflicting employment.
Reaction from the chief marketing officer
Carlton Saffa expressed total shock when he heard the news. He stated that the accusations do not accurately describe the actual circumstances. Saffa fell to the floor upon hearing the resolution and spent time at a medical center before being released.
Impact on local betting operations
Saracen Casino Resort features the BetSaracen Sportsbook alongside its massive gaming floor and hotel. Saffa previously led opposition against major sportsbook brands entering the state earlier this year. The Quapaw Nation Business Committee still needs to give final approval for the firings to become official.
Bettors using the local sportsbook should monitor how leadership changes affect future promotions and operations.
