Ruben Amorim hauled off Luka Modric at the interval during the recent Serie A clash with Lazio. Ac Milan found themselves two goals behind after a poor first half performance in Rome. Matteo Cancellieri and Tijjani Noslin scored to put the home side in control.
Tactical changes at half time
Amorim replaced Modric with Yunus Musah to inject more pace into the midfield. The tactical shift worked wonders as Diego Moreira scored twice to salvage a draw. The substitute became the youngest player to net a double from the bench for the club since data collection began in the two thousand and four season.
Control is everything for Modric
Amorim explained after the match that Modric cannot influence matches that become stretched and frantic. The veteran midfielder needs total control and possession to make an impact. Without that control, Amorim stated that Modric has no chance of affecting the result.
Looking ahead to upcoming fixtures
Ac Milan face Benfica in the Europa League next before hosting Lecce in the league. Punters should note that slow starts from the team might shorten odds on their opponents in the first half market. Slower opening periods could also push out Milan price for early goals in future matches.
Punters should watch out for slow starts from Ac Milan, which could make first half opponent bets longer or shorter depending on the opponent.
