Pennsylvania lawmakers push strict limits on online casino betting

Politicians in Pennsylvania introduced a new bill to restrict online casino stakes and target gambling addiction.

Written by the BettingEdgeHub desk, 27 October 2026

Pennsylvania politicians from both major parties joined forces to introduce new legislation aimed at curbing online gambling addiction. The bill targets younger adults by placing strict caps on how much money they can stake on casino games. Lawmakers believe these measures will stop operators from exploiting vulnerable players for profit.

Strict limits for young adults

The proposed legislation places a two dollar limit on online casino wagers for players aged twenty one to twenty five. Older players face a five dollar limit per play. Daily and monthly loss limits will also apply to stop excessive spending.

Banning credit cards and ads

Two additional draft laws accompany the main bill to increase consumer protection. These measures plan to ban credit card usage for funding gambling accounts and stop advertisements near schools and college campuses. Operators would also have to scrap VIP programs and micro bets entirely.

Protecting vulnerable players

Lawmakers pointed to troubling findings from state studies regarding predatory practices used by betting companies. Sponsors of the bill feel confident that holding operators accountable will help protect families across the state. Additional resources will also fund treatment programs for problem gambling.

What it means for a bet

bettors in Pennsylvania might soon face strict stake caps and loss limits if the new legislation passes.
