AC Milan suffered a dismal night in England as discipline cost them dearly against Bournemouth.

AC Milan endured a miserable evening on the south coast after crashing to a three goal defeat in the Europa League. The Italian giants found themselves behind early in the match when a penalty was awarded for handball. Justin Kluivert stepped up to convert from the spot and left the visitors chasing the game.

Discipline ruins the tactical plan

Things went from bad to worse before the half hour mark when goalkeeper Mike Maignan received a straight red card. The stopper shoved an opponent in the face during a set piece situation, resulting in another penalty for the hosts. Marcus Tavernier scored the second spot kick to double the advantage.

Bournemouth cruise to historic win

The home side added a third late in the second half through a brilliant free kick from Amine Adli. This victory made the English club the first to win their opening three matches in major European competition in decades. Milan failed to mount any meaningful comeback after going down to ten men.

Tough times for punters backing Milan

Punters who backed Milan in the pre match markets saw their selections ruined by catastrophic defensive errors and lack of discipline. The Italian side has a poor historical record on English soil and this latest collapse will make bookmakers very cautious about pricing them generously in future away fixtures. Bettors should expect longer odds on the Rossoneri when they travel for continental matches.

What it means for a bet

Punters should expect longer odds on Milan for away matches after this defensive disaster.
