The annual Gaming in Germany conference returns on 10 November at the DoubleTree Hilton Ku’damm in Berlin. Key decision makers will meet to discuss the strict rules governing the local betting and gaming market. Last year, experts highlighted concerns over low channelisation rates and a growing black market caused by heavy restrictions on legal operators.
Treaty review and market growth
A major topic of conversation will be the ongoing evaluation of the 2021 State Gambling Treaty. Attendees will also discuss prediction markets and their viability in both Germany and Austria. Former EGBA official Maarten Haijer previously noted that strict conditions make progress difficult for Germany compared to other European nations.
The conference schedule includes six distinct sessions featuring senior executives from across the sector. Representatives from the official regulator, the GGL, will speak alongside industry bosses. Tipwin chief executive officer Dr Damir Boehm and FDP executive board member Alexander Müller are among the key speakers scheduled to present.
Fresh options for operators
Discussions will cover the black market threat, regulatory updates, and potential new products for players. The potential opening of the regulated online casino market in Austria is another highlight. Gaming in Germany founder Willem van Oort stated that these discussions offer vital details for companies operating in German speaking regions.
Regulatory changes discussed at the conference could pave the way for safer licensed platforms and new betting markets in German speaking areas.
