Frank Lampard and his side finally got off the mark in the league with a narrow victory on the road. Jay Dasilva scored the crucial goal in the fifty fifth minute when he ran onto a long pass and beat the goalkeeper. That moment gave the visitors something to defend as they sought their first three points of the campaign.

Late VAR drama saves the visitors

Nottingham Forest pushed hard for an equalizer and thought they had found it late in the match. Igor Jesus put the ball in the net in the eighty sixth minute, but the referee checked the pitchside monitor. The official ruled that a foul occurred in the build up, leading to celebrations from the away bench.

Lampard joked to reporters after the match that he loved video assistant referees following the tight call. He admitted he worried the goal would stand when he first saw the challenge. The decision ultimately preserved the clean sheet and secured the historic result.

Home scoring woes continue for Forest

The home side struggled to create clear chances and failed to score in their third consecutive home league fixture of the season. Manager Oliver Glasner pointed to mounting tension around the stadium as a reason for the poor performance. The squad now needs to find confidence quickly to avoid sliding down the table.

Punters looking at the relegation and top flight outright markets will notice changes in the odds following this result. Nottingham Forest drift in the betting after failing to score at home once again. Meanwhile, Coventry see their price shorten slightly as they finally put their first win on the board.
