District Judge Joe Hardy ordered a second arrest warrant for sports betting influencer David Oancea. He is better known online as Vegas Dave. The judge set his bail at one million dollars after he missed court proceedings in a civil case.
Oancea owes tens of millions of dollars to debtors. He failed to appear for a scheduled surrender hearing. The judge previously issued a warrant in August after he failed to turn over luxury assets.
Legal trouble mounts
The legal battle stems from a civil case brought by a luxury vacation rental company in Mexico named Cabo Platinum. The company accused him of sabotaging bookings and blocking guest access to several properties. A judge ordered him to pay a thirty million dollar judgment.
Oancea was told to surrender a high value collection of assets. This included Mexican properties, cryptocurrency, a luxury watch, and several expensive bags. He failed to hand over the property and claimed he no longer possessed the items.
Court rejects excuses
A judge found his testimony to be false and evasive. The court concluded that he willfully refused to comply with the surrender orders. He was given options to turn over the assets or surrender himself to custody.
He chose to ignore the deadlines and posted videos on social media from overseas locations instead. His legal team appeared in court without him and declined to comment on his current location.
High profile handicappers can face severe legal consequences when civil judgments and court orders go ignored.
