European gambling stocks finished the week split evenly with four rising and five falling. The broader market performed well as the FTSE 100 enjoyed its strongest weekly gain since April. Investors reacted to fresh corporate updates and regulatory developments across the sector.
Rank and Entain lead gainers
The Rank Group was the top performer of the week after posting a six percent increase to reach seventy five pence. The company reported five percent growth in first quarter net gaming revenue. Chief executive Richard Harris warned that potential increases in Machine Games Duty could force venue closures and job losses. Entain also gained ground following a positive quarterly update from its BetMGM joint venture.
Flutter hits yearly low
Flutter Entertainment struggled badly over the same period and dropped five percent to reach seventy five dollars. The stock touched a new fifty two week low during the week after analysts lowered price targets. Rival companies also faced pressure as regulatory scrutiny and legal challenges continued to affect market confidence in several regions.
Brazil betting rules await ruling
Regulatory updates continued to draw attention in international markets during the week. Brazil received nearly one hundred amendment proposals regarding its online betting rules before the deadline closed. A federal judge had not yet ruled on requests to suspend the ban while operators awaited final clarity.
Punters should watch how regulatory pressure and tax warnings impact long term stock values for major operators.
